Program Profile
Civil Engineering is one of the most important engineering branches and its roots date back to 3000 BC. Buildings, facilities, distribution networks, transmission and transportation lines, roads, water structures, and infrastructure facilities such as buildings and bridges, which are the products of modern civil engineering are used directly or indirectly by people at any moment.
Civil engineers can work in the public and private sectors: organizations operating in the municipal, contracting, advisory, educational, R&D units and technoparks, industries producing construction materials, commerce, service, and consulting fields. The Republic of Turkey Railways, Highways, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works can be employed at all levels in the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Public Works.
There is a large variety of working fields such as planning, designing, contracting services, manufacturing, construction, operation and maintenance, sales and marketing, and renovation. Civil engineering classically includes the following sub-disciplines:
Structural Engineering: It deals with the design and manufacture of all types of buildings and bridges for accommodation and transportation purposes.
Geotechnical Engineering: Soil properties to be placed on top of buildings and other structures to be used in the design of foundations, the main principles of soil mechanics, the design of the basic element through the use of geotechnical data, excavation, retaining walls, earth body dam structures are the main subject of geotechnical engineering, infrastructure management, and building manufacturing technologies applications..
Transportation Engineering: Airports, railway systems, planning of roads, designing, manufacturing, include operation and renovation issues. Engineering Mechanics: Applied mathematics, which is related to the study of mechanical and other related issues. Thus, the properties of the materials, the mechanical properties of the fluids and solids, the hydraulic aspects, the structures can be better understood; design and applications can be possible.
Water Resources Engineering: Hydrology; the planning of structures and pipelines for the purpose of meeting the water needs of human settlements, industries, and agricultural activities, and for the extraction, transmission, and distribution of water from nature; water drainage in settlement areas; flood control and flood damage analysis.
Materials Engineering: It covers the properties of materials to be used in buildings and other structures, and the mechanical properties of the material.
Infrastructure Engineering: The wastewater collected from residential areas provides suitably removal and disposal issues.
Career Opportunities
For civil engineers, job opportunities are mainly available within the scope of all governmental organizations such as Public Works and Settlement, Forestry, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Transport, Highways. As a private sector, construction companies can work in companies that cover both domestic and international markets, and they can continue to work in the construction company they would establish.
Trade areas, service sectors, railways, highways, organizations active in hydraulic works are among the places to start a career for Civil Engineers.
