Program Profile
The Social Service program is on the generalist model of social work practice that depends on critical thinking within an organizational structure and under supervision to change and strengthen the vocational abilities of individuals, families, groups, and society.
The generalist model of social work practice focuses on problem-solving rather than focusing on a specific field or method. It uses the "individual within the environment" approach in the assessment by giving a holistic focus to practice throughout the problem-solving process. According to the model, the social service professional is a practitioner who thoroughly analyses the problems and solutions extensively and has a wide range of knowledge and skills.
Our curriculum consists of 36.4% practical applications and 64.6% theoretical courses. When students are in the 4th grade, they will be able to transfer their knowledge and skills they have gained to practice in social service institutions in different parts of the country.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Social Service Department can work at kindergartens, orphanages, children's clubs, day nurseries and day-care homes, and adoption services. Youth centers, higher education student dormitories, social centers in universities, and student health centers, as well as family counseling institutions, and women's guesthouses are among other options to work at.
Our graduates can also work for family courts and juvenile courts, juvenile directorates of the police, juvenile education and training houses, prisons, hospitals, community mental health centers, nurseries, elderly care centers, and social assistance and solidarity foundations such as the Turkish Red Crescent.
